Located on a farmstead in rural Peoria County, Pleasant Prairie Nursery was founded in 2010 to provide the best quality native grasses, wildflowers, and trees for Illinois locals looking to include natives in landscaping, erosion reduction, or prairie restoration. Our inventory of over 100 different species of native plants continues to expand.
We know that native plant projects can sometimes feel overwhelming—there is so much to learn! That's why we aim to be more than a premier plant provider; we are committed to hands-on service that makes us a source of expertise and partnership for your project. Don't hesitate; reach out now with your questions and concerns!
Greg Herrmann has a love for nature and an interest in the native grasses and wildflowers of Illinois. He began collecting and growing native plants in 2009, and step by step has built his selection to over a hundred different species.
Graduating from Illinois Central College with an associates degree in Environmental Science, Greg has a heart for conservation and being a good steward of the land. Birdwatching and researching about the natural world are among his favorite pastimes.
Greg lives on a farm near Williamsfield, IL. In his spare time you will find him scouting hillsides, wooded areas and creekbeds collecting seeds to add to his inventory of grasses and wildflowers. After stratifying his seeds over the winter, in the spring Greg begins preparing plug trays of grasses and wildflowers for his customers.
